These games try to represent a stage race that can be played in a relatively short time (in a single game session). The stages have to be quite short, thus their rules cannot be as complex as some one-day race games' or longer stage-race games' rules. On the other hand, the rules of these are (hopefully) more complex than a game of goose, and the winner of the game is not compulsorily the first to reach the last square, as the winner of the Tour de France is not the first to cross the line in Paris.
